What a beautiful morning! I'm so glad fall is trying to sneak in on us. We are pulling out the autumn decorations at the nursery and getting some new items, too! I'll post new items as we get them in. Corn stalks and hay bales came in yesterday. We have mums ready!! Come see us and get in the fall mood!!

Do you need your front door, yard or mailbox decorated for the season? Let us know and we can get that taken care of for you. Seasonal decorating is a specialty of ours and we have some of the best inventory in town.

Don't forget about the pansies! We've got those, too. See you soon.

Fall is on my mind....

Ahhhh, fall....OK, I KNOW it's not fall, yet. I'm not stupid. In retail, you have to learn to shift gears at different times than everyone else. So now I'm in fall mode. It's my favorite time of year. I think putting my brain into fall mode is also keeping me from having a heat stroke. I mean, REALLY, what's up with the heat! Is your yard burning up yet? If it is, you aren't the only one. Keeping a yard going this time of year is truly a labor of love.

Since it's really hot and I didn't want to put a picture of a thermostat exploding, I'll leave you with a beautiful picture of a butterfly that my friend Dianne took. Isn't that a wonderful example of what nature gives us to enjoy during these sweltering summer afternoons? See, it all evens out....

Word to your Mother

My goodness!!! Spring has sprung all over us. Time is flying, and I can't believe it is Mother's Day weekend. Today is supposed to be beautiful with the temps being just a little cooler than what we have been seeing. It will be a great weekend to come out and find the perfect gift for mom. We have these great garden trellises in two sizes, as well as hanging baskets, ready-made containers, gift certificates...we can do anything. If your aren't local, but your mom is, we can get a great gift together for her and deliver it personally. Just call us at 692-0052 and let us take care of mom for you!

I hope all the moms out there are having a great weekend. Come by and see us!

Bring it On!!!

Spring is trying to make it's way here. Can you see the sun this morning? It feels great.

We are already lining up our first mulch jobs of the spring with lots of do-it-yourselfers coming down to get loaded up. We've also got quit a few loads to deliver this weekend. At this time we still have a few more spots available on the delivery schedule, so if you want to get out and enjoy the pretty weather, give us a call and we will get some mulch to you.

Starting to think about....container classes

Listen...I like snow, but I like to actually GET some snow. This winter has been one big joke. Either bring us some snow, or give us some nice pretty weather. So, I'm just going to pretend that it's nice and pretty outside. I'm going to start thinking about the flowering plants that we are going to get in at the nursery and the container gardening class that I am starting to plan.

Last year I was going to do some classes...then I found out I was pregnant. The sickness started, and between being sick and being sleepy, I just wasn't into teaching any classes or having any groups at the nursery. I'm so sorry that I wasn't good company last spring, but now I am ready to go. Now if we can just get the weather.

The first class I'm starting to think about is a Proven Winners container class. Doesn't that sound like fun? I'm also working on some doorprizes, handouts, etc. I think it will be a fun time! I'm trying to think of what else to do. I think we will do an herb class, a windowbox class....I don't know, I'm still working on some things. If you've driven by lately you will see that we have a new retail building. We've got plenty of space inside to have classes if the weather doesn't permit us to be outside.

ALSO, if someone would like to use the space to teach a class or have a small demonstration party, please let me know. I would love to have a chef come down and teach a class on cooking with fresh herbs!!! So, if anyone is interested, let me know. All ideas are welcome, so leave a comment on here or send an email to missy@creeksidenurseries.com.

Thanks everyone. I'm so glad spring is here!!!!!!!......even if it's only in my mind......

Garden Center Help

Hi All,

Well, it's that time of year again and we are looking for a few good people to work in our garden center.

We need one or two key people with extensive knowledge of Perennials to assist in merchandising and managing of that department. This person should also have a strong knowledge of trees, shrubs, roses and insect and disease controls. Duties will also include running the outside cash register. Excellent customer service skills are needed for this position. Retired persons are strongly encouraged to apply.

We will also need a few individuals to fill the following needs: watering, unloading trucks, assisting customers in selecting plants and general all around work roles. As this is a very labor intensive business the ideal candidates will be in good physical shape as they will be on their feet all day and they must be able to lift objects up to 40lbs. This is a great position for a DEPENDABLE college student.

Shifts available are for weekdays and weekends through the end of June, and perhaps longer.

If you know anyone interested please forward this email.

Please send resume and applicable qualifications via email only to:
missy@creeksidenurseries.com. Please no phone calls.

Thanks for you help. Spring is coming and we're gearing up!

Missy Langley

Coming out of Hibernation

Aaaaahhhhhhh...this week has been nice with it's big thaw. I feel like a momma bear waking up slowly and starting to move around. Now before I get a lot of comments and emails, I am well aware of the fact that we will get some more cold weather and that we could, in fact, get some crazy 2 foot Super Snow (I lived here in the early 90's). Humor me people!!! This week has felt like spring is just around the corner.

The nursery is open abbreviated hours right now, but don't worry...we have been busy deciding on new stock for the spring. So while you may not see much going on down there, this is really the time of year we are getting our wheels going. Also, if you have seen something in a magazine or heard a friend talking about some new plant or flower, leave a comment or shoot me an email. We'll see if we can get it on our spring order. I'm also looking at containers and accessories for your gardens.

The hardscape schedule is really starting to fill up, so if you are thinking of doing an outdoor room, go ahead and give us a call at 692-0052. Every year we get people calling us in April wanting an outdoor room built in a few weeks. By the time things have really started to warm up our schedule is full, so CALL EARLY! We've done some beautiful projects lately and I KNOW that I need to get some pictures of them on here for you guys to look at...be patient!!! I'll get them on here soon. I know that I am a visual person and seeing what we have done is great to get those wheels going about what we can do at your house. Every time we do a new project I think, "Oh, that's what I want to do in our backyard." Good thing I don't get the guys over here to start working or our backyard would look like a patchwork quilt!!!

OK, so I have my assignments: pics on portfolio, ordering for spring, hardscape schedule...Wow! I'm busy already....got to go to work. See you guys soon!!!
